David Meyler could have been a Cork hurling hero, like his father who won an All-Ireland title in 1986 and later led Cork to Munster glory in 2018 as manager. John also managed Wexford, Kerry and Carlow.David, however, made his name on the soccer fields of England, starting with Sunderland and later joining Hull City with whom he played over 190 times. Twice, David helped Hull win promotion to the Premier League and he started for the Tigers in the 2014 FA Cup final against Arsenal.David represented the Republic of Ireland 26 times and also proudly captained his country.
